Carry-on.
That is my way of traveling. And I was always a backpack carry-on girl for most of my life.
That was until I got the Chester Minima Carry-on luggage.
Now, don’t get me wrong. I’m still a backpack girl. I wasn’t sure how I was going to feel with having a carry-on luggage. But once I actually used the Chester Minima Carry-on luggage, I am loving it.
And, scouts honor, I’m really digging this suitcase.
Now, let me review why. (Also, ON THE REAL. These opinions are all my own, if you’re an avid reader of mine, you should know I won’t review something unless I truly believe in it. JUST SAYIN’) Now onward!
Good-Looks
You know when you look online and then when you get it in person, it’s not the same. Well, that’s not the case for this (Get it, Case, suitcase 😉
It’s just as pretty in person, as it looks online. And to a lot of people, style is in. And having stylish luggage is definitely important. And this is a stylish suitcase.
They have a ton of colors too, seven to be exact. Which I found so awesome.
You can snag it as bright as a pink to the darkness of black. I opted for ocean blue, because it’s a nice compliment to my black Herschel backpack that I usually use when I travel.
I won’t lie, if they had a dark purple color, I would’ve jumped right on that on. *Cough* Purple is a pretty suitcase color too! *Cough*.
And not only is the color super pretty. It just looks so modern. And I don’t mean those cool vintage looking suitcases are out or anything, I just think it looks clean, which is something I love.
Size Matters
In the luggage world, I mean ; )
But on the real, this is a perfect carry-on. When I first got it, I was surprised by how much bigger it was than I thought. Being a carry-on backpack girl most of my life, I just think that carry-on means packing only what you can carry in my backpack.
But this was a game changer.
Not to mention it is actually perfectly sized at 21.5” x 13.5” x 8.5” (that includes the wheels!!) and that will fit the overhead bins of almost all airlines, even international ones too!
And because it is bigger than my normal backpack that I usually use for a carry-on, I can actually pack a few more things. Like extra shoes or an extra outfit that I can’t usually pack in my backpack.
It says it can fit about 3-5 outfits in your carry-on. Which is way more than I usually need, but I definitely took advantage of that. And because I’m a fairly skilled packer, I fit about 6 outfits in it. I’m sure if I didn’t bring those extra shoes, it could have been seven. I didn’t actually need seven outfits, but I’m a girl, I need the options!
And of course when you’re talking about the size of this carry-on, you need to think about the weight of it too. Because we all know some airlines check carry-on weight and are strict about it, especially small economy based airlines.
I learned my lesson with a heavy carry-on when I almost had an overweight backpack carry-on for a flight in Europe. I didn’t think they would check the weight, so I didn’t really care, but when they did I freaked.
I was lucky and it was just at the weight limit they allowed. But ever since then I always made sure that the bags I owned didn’t weigh too much before I even put anything in it.
And this was no exception. Because who wants to pick up an empty luggage and see that it weighs almost 20 pounds alone, just for being luggage.
This Chester Minima carry-on luggage thankfully only weighs 7 pounds!
It’s also 100% polycarbonate and hard shell, which gives it the sleek look and the low weight. And because of that, it’s flexible and strong, making it one tough suitcase.
Outer Wear
What do I mean by Outer Wear? I mean the wheels, handles, and locks/zipper.
Let me start with the
wheels.
It’s a spinner.
Enough said really.
And if you don’t know what a spinner means, it means four wheels that run multi-directionally. And they are surprisingly pretty silent and can withstand pretty much any type of terrain.
I love spinners. Because I’m antsy and like spinning luggage around, something I can’t do with just regular two wheeled luggage.
But that’s not the only reason why I love spinners like the one on the Chester Minima Carry-on. It’s just convenient to have a spinner suitcase that can turn in any direction you decide to take it.
I don’t have to just lug it behind me to wheel around. I can keep it right next to me when I stand somewhere and it’s just easy to navigate.
Who wouldn’t like ease like that? Crazy people.
Now for the
handles.
I’m actually really big on handles. Mostly because I’m tall. I’m one tall Asian lady with long arms. And their handles work perfectly for me.
They have TWO lock positions! What more can a girl ask for.
And it’s a handle that is 100% aluminum telescoping ergonomic. Which means it’s strong, it slides easy (push button at the top handle so it doesn’t suddenly just drop down at any moment), and it fits well with almost any person, tall or small, in a safe and efficient way.
It also has the handles to carry it if you want to carry it like a briefcase. And they’re strong handles that move the way you want it to move. And because they’re flat when it’s not in use, it doesn’t add to the size of your suitcase, always a plus!
Locks and Zipper
This is pretty important.
Because the lock will keep your belongings safe and the zipper holds everything together.
And this has both great locks and zippers.
When I first saw the locks, I was pretty amazed. It was pretty cool looking and pretty easy to navigate.
And of course, it’s a TSA-approved lock. Which is a must.
And the zipper is perfect, both inside and out. I like how it goes all the way around the suitcase for complete opening of the suitcase. And it’s easy to handle, which is something you definitely need with a suitcase.
Also my fave is how there are also zippers inside the suitcase to lock everything up.
Having these locks and zippers just makes my belongings so safe and secure. Something any and every traveler wants to hear.
Look Inside for a Surprise
As I mentioned above my fave part of this suitcase is how it’s zippered into compartments.
The two main haves are zippered, so all your stuff won’t just suddenly fall out when you open it. And then it also has three interior organizers plus a removable laundry bag!
Like what?
I mean, if you’re an organized type of gal or dude, this will meet your needs of keeping things as organized as possible in a carry-on.
And even if you’re not the most organized person in the world (ME!) this will 100 percent help you feel like you’re an organized person with a put together life.
And who doesn’t want to feel put together, especially when the craziness of traveling is involved.
And because it’s all zippered in, when you open your bag after the flight, it won’t pop out at you like some other suitcase.
Another really cool feature it has, which I really like is the laundry bag!
It’s this little (actually big) bag that has it’s own little pocket at the side of the suitcase that you can tuck away when you’re not using it. It’s perfect for when you have some dirty laundry that you won’t want to mix in with clean clothes, especially for the end of a trip.
I also used it for my dirty shoes that I didn’t want my clean clothes near. So really, you can use that extra bag for almost anything!
Having everything compartmentalized so thoughtfully and so sleekly, make the inside not only functional, but so sleek. Plus I dig the stripes look they have going on inside.
Overall
It’s an awesome suitcase. And I’m not just saying that because they were so kind to send it to me. Because we all know that when I review things, I keep it 100% real and honest. I honestly find this a great carry-on luggage for any and every traveler.
