The TikTok Ban Got Me Back to Blogging

Okay, so maybe I haven’t really been blogging. But I have been thinking about getting back into this blogging space.

Life has been life-ing a bit too much lately and now I think it’s time to go back to my roots. My blogging/vlogging roots.

I was @writewithyvonne on the Clock app and I actually grew a small following on the platform when I started to post my bookish content and officially became a BOOKTOKER. Like what?

Who knew that sharing my love for books and mostly buying books and reading manga would turn into this cute wonderful community of other book-loving people! And now, it’s possibly going away. A platform I finally grew a following on and it might go away.

Because I’ve been on a lot of social media platforms trying to make a community and not much stuck. I would say the most connection I had made was when I was in middle school writing my Draco FanFiction on Quizilla and people were actually reading my story. But since then I haven’t been able to cultivate a community of like-minded people until I got on the TikTok Platform.

Yes, I have this blog and I’ll forever have this blog and hope to one day turn it into something greater, but TikTok shared a community of people with me I never would have never met without getting on that silly little clock app and just posting the dang videos about my love for certain books and showing off the library books I got.

And when I say I have tried to make it on other social media platforms, I have tried. I was Facebook Pages, Instagram when it first came out and I was posting random food pics, Youtube with my travel vlogging, a small stint in Vine and i even tried podcasting. But alas, my consistency was awful and I just couldn’t get it right.

But then in come this app that lets me just pull out my phone talk about books in my car and then hit post. My broadcasting dream to be creative without overthinking it.

Now it may go away and I’m sad. I truly never grew the potential I had in this app like I should have. And don’t get me wrong, when you think about 1500 people following you that’s a shit ton of people and when I see some of my videos with over 15k views, that’s an even more shit ton of people.

But here we are at a bit of standstill not sure what to do, like will it be banned, will it not be banned? But what I do know for sure is that my website is mine. Unless I make some big no no to Google, this is my baby and I can do whatever I want with this.

And guess what, I think it’s time to bring blogging back. I’m first and foremost a reader/writer since I’ve been younger, videos and broadcasting came a bit later in my life. But why not revive my blog? Why not revive my YouTube? I have nothing left to lose.

So please, if you made it this far into my journal entry. Welcome and I hope you stick around and we’ll see where this journey takes me. ‘Cause honestly there is still so much potential in this online world for me to grow and be seen how I’ve always seen myself.

If you want to stick around, please keep checking out my website when you can. Also checkout all my other platforms.

Writer Wednesday – Writing Goals

That’s right, I’m back, and coming full force. Especially in the writing department. Which is why I felt it perfect to finally bring back Writer Wednesday!

Now, this might be more of a blog post for myself, more than anything. But I always like sharing things like my goals to people because

I enjoy reading people’s goals – it’s an inspiration to me to see what type of goals people have and maybe be something beneficial for myself to add to my goals.

It’s accountability – Don’t get me wrong, I’m the worst when it comes to accountability, anybody who listens to my podcast knows this. But still there’s this sense of wanting to go full force at my goals when it’s written down, especially on something like my blog.

I share because I share – Fact of the matter is, I’ve been sharing my goals on this blog for years, so why stop now?

But I assure you, as this may seem like a selfish blog post (kinda is), I hope in some way this will help inspire you to keep trucking along for your goals this year!

Without further ado, here’s my writing goals

ABC’s of Travel

Nostalgia. That’s a big thing in the digital world right now.

Throwbacks of Britney Spears’ Baby One More Time outfit #FreeBritney and seeing N*SYNC and Backstreet Boys collab together just give you all the feels.

And so when I came across this little ABC’s of Travel questionnaire, it brought me back to my Xanga and LiveJournal days and I figured, why not?

Why not have a little fun on my blog and bring back all the nostalgic feels as I make my way back into the digital media world? Why not have an enjoyable post that will bring me back to my traveling days and get me on the up and up on this blogging thing.

So without further ado: My ABC’s of Traveling.

Black Lives Matter

This is not just some trend, this is a movement. This is not the time to be silent, this is the time to speak up and use your platform to help bring justice. I have this small space on the internet and I refuse to keep quiet about this.

No Justice, No Peace.

And being silent about this is not helping.

I am not black, I am Asian, but I will stand by and always help out my fellow black people.

If you listened to my podcast episode first, I will be putting some links on ways to help during this movement. If you want to listen to my scattered thoughts you can listen to my podcast episode below. I usually post Tuesdays, but I have posted a day earlier because I couldn’t keep quiet on my podcast any longer.

As much as I have a voice and am doing my best to raise awareness, please listen to black people and what they have to say on this matter more than myself. I can only raise as much awareness as possible, but I will never be in the same shoes as black people and what they feel.

But for now, I have voiced my stance on this movement and I am here. I am an ally. I will stand by you all until justice is served, police brutality is taken seriously, and black people are treated equally. Because Black Lives Matter.

Below are the best resources I’ve used and can find to help in this Black Lives Matter Movement. I will update as best as I can or you can follow my twitter @lostwithyvonne or @writewithyvonne for more up to date stuff.

Please also, if you can donate to the following infographic

This is all I have for now. I hope this small bit helps in any way possible. And please keep EDUCATING yourself. I am on daily because I have privilege. As much as I am a person of color, I won’t understand what it means to be a black person during this time. So the best way is to educate yourself and LISTEN to your fellow black friends, leaders, people.

Chester Minima Carry-On Luggage Thoughts – Getting My perfect Carry-On Luggage

(The following post has been sponsored by chestertravels.com). You can see my disclosure page here

Carry-on.

That is my way of traveling. And I was always a backpack carry-on girl for most of my life.

That was until I got the Chester Minima Carry-on luggage.

Now, don’t get me wrong. I’m still a backpack girl. But when they reached out to me about sending me their Chester Minima Carry-on to review, I couldn’t pass up on the opportunity to feel like a grownup, and actually own my first real carry-on luggage. (I usually borrow my parents. Hi, I’m in my late 20s).

The One Lesson I Learned from One Year of Podcasting

Hear me out. I know I probably learned more lessons in my first year of podcasting. But there is ONE lesson I learned from doing one year of podcasting that I want to share as a blog post.

Which, if you didn’t know, my podcast turned one this year back on June 5th! And I had mixed emotions when I realized it’s been a year.

But most of it was pure joy.

It first came to me as a shock. I had it planned out on my content calendar, of course. But it didn’t hit me until a week prior that I had really been podcasting for a year.

Cruise Ship Food: 10 Days of Eating

If there is one thing that I miss the very most from my cruise trip, besides seeing all the beautiful islands, is the food. 24 hours of free food included in your cruise package is what I think heaven must be like.

I love food, so in reality it was my heaven.

I decided to take a photo of almost each meal I had during my cruise ship. So I hope you’re hungry because you’re about to head to delish-town. (I’m corny, I know)

How To Do Coachella Like a Local

Once upon a time I was sitting at my work computer, I had multiple web browsers up and my phone in my lap, just in case. When that clock struck the hour, I was on it. And after multiple attempts I actually made it, I got me and my friend Coachella tickets for weekend 1!

This was a big deal. Like a hug deal. But this was also way back before hologram 2Pac came alive on the Coachella stage. It was cheaper and easier then.

But even though things have definitely changed in the Coachella game since I last went, I figured my knowledge of Coachella is still relevant because I went with a local Coachella resident.

Cruise Ship Fun: Norwegian Gem

If you didn’t know, the islands I went to from these posts were all because I went on a cruise that took me to these wonderful islands. And that cruise was for 10 days, and only 4 of them were spent at the islands.

So, what about the other 6 days?

Well, I got to experience the fun times of the Norwegian Gem. And boy did they not disappoint. They had so much to do to keep your vacation both fun and relaxing.

The First Steps in Creating a Good Blog

How did Lost with Yvonne become the blog it is today? Well to start with, it all came from a single idea that has flourished into what I now have going on.
